Cheer Camp 2011!: A Fun and fruitful 1 plus week

The past 1 plus was VERY different from any usual training

WHY?????

Cos our Monsters Guest Coaches are here!! 阿俗and 雄哥! Monsters is Taiwan's multi year Open Category Cheerleading Champions! And we are really glad to have both of them with their wealth of experience and skills here to help us :)

If you still do not know them, this is their Black team for last December's Taiwan Cheer Nationals. Note: You can see ah song in the centre at the start of the routine!

Well of course besides cheer stuff, some of us took turns to bring them around Singapore shopping, suppering, USS-ing and even Mahjong-ing! Where they learnt the Singapore style of MJ. ( Heard that the Taiwan coaches were very lucky though!)

Poor TP, no Beef for him! Brought them around for food everyday and even for $100 plus Dim Sum suppers after training which shocked all of us!

All good things have to come to an end though however we all trained hard and played hard and ensured that their trip in Singapore was an Enjoyable one before A Song had to leave last Wednesday and with Xiong Ge the Sunday after that.

Really do hope to be able to see you all again next year either in Singapore or when we fly over after Nationals as a team! ( As much as possible ) : D In the mean time Good luck to Monsters for their upcoming December Nationals!

Exchange with Wildcards!

FACEOFF!

Just kidding :), it was a fun and friendly session of exchange between Wildcards and Denvers where we came together and exchanged pointers and made more friends in the Singapore Cheer scene. Where we covered everything from partner and even took a mass Partner stunt and Gladiator shots. 7 Gladiators, if only there was a 35 man team category in SG! haha

Appreciate the efforts from both sides especially Raj and Ochi from wildcards who made this event happen. Special mention goes to Wildcards coach Biyi who was very helpful and sincere in imparting her skills to some of the junior flyers. Anyway those were some nice Btosses you did !

Who says we have to be competitors even if we are gonna compete in the same category. It is always in the best interests of everyone if we all interacted more and exchanged pointers here and there. Only then can we improve faster and eventually be noted in the international cheer community : ) Heres to future exchanges with Wildcards in the coming years! :D

Singa Cheer Cheer Cheer!

Last sat was the day where we had our stunt around town Denvers event to bond the new ones closer into the Denvers family! Singa Cheer Cheer Cheer! (Proudly organised and sponsored by Mr YTP :D )

First stop, breakfast at the Zoo! Where we presented the Denvers Shirt, mini mascot and bag to the new comers and we played some games.

And this is Denvers A, where we un-suprisingly won the stunt/game at the Zoo :) Which ended up with the organiser having to do the forfeit which he thought of for the game itself!

Marina Barrage! Was in fact our last stop and not the one after Zoo but this picture is niceee eh.

Next up, the Merlion tog with MBS! where the focus was on partner stunt and we somehow even enticed a kid to wanna give cheerleading a try :)

And it was a night of food, shooting, shagging and marrying, etc in the comfort of the suite :) before its Cpt America the next day after we left RWS.

Hey ppl! Good job thus far on the full ups and breaking new ground in partner stunts too. Just a summarised recap on progress and what to improve on so far. In Random order!!

Venson- Need to use legs more also! Its kinda like you jumping up but transfering and combining your jumping power to the flyer's jump to give it the toss! same for extension use legs nt hands! legs legs legs! just need to lock in the natural tendency to use legs.

Lester- Just need to train your endurance and leg speed! your hands quite fast eh but need to learn to use your legs more. With more endurance your extension/ shoulderstand all those can also tahan more already

Darrell- You are quite strong one lo.Don't get too nervous or over think things!! ( though i do that at times also :( ) Just need to feel the flow of the stunt or whatever it is, not everything u gek means can. just feel k! the timing, flyer's jump, tosser's toss during toe pitch, etc. Feel it and know what to do with it to get the technique.

Bernie- Rmb to remain tighter when doing full up! dont star up ah. hahah, have seen u improve but improve faster and more yea. and be more on time for trng also ah!

Jiahua-knees knees knees! your jump also. and dont get too used of cheating by jumping up onto a stunt ah!

Zhiyong-Start to toss higher den do toss ex lo! start to get out of e comfort zone of tossing that height le! and also slowly change gripping or whatever that makes it more stable! cos i think the side kiap gripping has a potentially higher chance of falling and/or causing e flyer to heel also eh.

Yikang- Don't be jelly fish and gek your core to stabilise hor. hahah, but tossing quite good ah!

Fazall- Good that u managed to hit toss to hands early on. but for now n

eed to minus the habit of using your back while tossing and add in more legs! gripping too, starting to have my bad habit of grabbing too tightly. heh. learn and determine what kinda gripping and platform is flattest and best for the flyer to step on.

Anna- Just need to get rid of the fear yea! and u can improve fast

er. Knees dont buckle also. and don anyhow faster just want to jump down from a stunt also! dangerous for you and whoever's around also eh! and your pop down!!

Chloe-Not bad u've improved quite a bit from since u joined! keep up the good work and also keep trying harder to improve more, and don't give up when on a stunt! esp if the base never give up too yea.

Yan- Relax a bit! haha esp when on shoulder stand, think u might be too eagerly preoccupied with wanting to catch the top fly til u might anyhow catch at times. Be zen up there! look at where the flyer is going then get the feel of when u can catch and how. its abit like me how i get too nervous den i grab the flyer's leg too tightly until it twists here and nth goes wrong, Zen! and feel the top fly's flight! and all will move ahead better again :)

Peishi- Shoulderstand stepping and catching is getting better ! but must be aware when u are tired yea, might start to relapse the bad habits a bit again. hahah. and rmb to dont toe or buckle your knee when on a single leg stunt!

Natalie- Aiya, lao jia flyer alr la! hahah, just need to work on your tightness when flying up via toe pitch and abs for back tuck!! den u can be the dream versatile mid/top tier le. haha

Joshua- Backtuck don't become open leg frog tuck and round off don't one hand lehh.. haha. but other than that continue improving and good that u use your back less le! time to start doing back tucks on the mats le.

Jaz- Just need to work on your ankle and hips locking and also come for more trainings k!!

Claudia- Think u are destined to do higher lvl stunts like heelstretch and bow n arrow la! funny tt u seem more stable when doing those. hahah. and closer tighter for full up! Don't stop improving and u can show others ya!

Kass-Bim Bo! Slowly rely less on the base's toss and jump more too so end up u know that u really tried alot lo and prob is just the base nv toss enough. Time to go for twist down eh!

Dammit, took quite long to type. tired now. so pardon me if i missed u out or what and of course my own need to catch higher, toss faster and having a iron wrist :( Lets all improve on correcting our own weaknesses

- HO competition ( about 24 sessions – depending on the conflict of trg schedules of hall and Denvers)

- 2 months to perfect and rehearsal of full run ( 24 sessions)

Total no.of trg sessions lost = 76 sessions

Total effective trg sessions remaining = 129 – 76 = 53 sessions

If to be divided equally into 4 segments – btoss, pyramid, partner stunts, grp stunts, gymnastics = for each category we only have 10 sessions to train. Not forgetting that some segments require more time than others.

On top of that, we have a significant pool of people we have not mastered/learnt partner stunts – (I just mean the basic, toss ex, lib and cupie). To me the standard of the team can be indirectly measured by the no.of ppl who can do partner stunts in the team.

Thus, we really need to step up on the intensity of our trg and focus very much on our trg programme so as to make sure that we are progressing on track and fast enough to catch up with the other teams. Our trg programme should steer more towards objective based (National’s routine).

This time round, we must really scrutinized our own trg program and not waste any time. we cannot afford to waste one trg and wait for things to happen. We must all work tgt! J

The daddy mascot has sent his children mascots to ensure our safety on the mats, boost our confidence to ASU during performances and competitions. Hello everyone. I have left denvers for a period of time and now i think it is time to come back home. This year of competition, I saw many cheerleaders working so hard and putting in their heart and soul to achieve what the team has always dreamt for.

and indeed, with the effort put in by every single one of you, we did it.
Denvers final 16 (2010/2011), YOU DID US PROUD!
i may not be in the best position to say this but cheerleading is about the mindset and the commitment level.
but most importantly, it is about passion.
passion drives you internally and i ever heard people say
"do what you are passionate about and you will never work a day."
i agree with both hands and legs.
i believe it applies to cheer as well.

with passion, we will be able to achieve what we set out to do.
with the right leadership, we will have the direction to head to.
with every single one of us, we will form the formidable team.

because we believe,
because we trust one another,
we will achieve what we set out to do.

the new academic year for cheer 2011/2012 is here.

That's us, Denvers Cheerleading at the 2011 2nd Singapore National Cheerleading Championships :) Real proud of us, our routine and our people, great synchornisation too! Though the last pyramid didn't stay there but we will be FINISH IT UP THIS COMING SOUTH EAST ASIAN CHEERLEADING OPEN!

US Season 2010 - 2011

Feels like a mini trend here with their 3 layers of synchronisation (my term, heh) similar to what Cheer extreme is doing.

Ditched their latin themed routine of last year, though it was fresh. Interesting Group stunt segment with the group movements and incorporation of "Just the way you are" into the routine. Nice

Feels like a sequel with the Celine dion music for their pyramids and their upgraded ball up 360 tick tock tick tock group stunt segment. 3 layers of tick tock synchronisation, hope they pull it off ultimately! Good and bad that it feels like an upgraded version of their previous year's routine.

Once again looking at the overseas teams (US in this case) its apparent, unlike our local cheer scenes, how they not only focused on stunts but also on the many other aspects such as expressions, hand actions, stage attitude, song choice to bring the entire routine out. The flow of the music controlling the pacing of the routine, one moment fast another moment it takes your breath by switching down a few notches. The entire flow is there and u can see it in their faces that they know they can hit it even if they don't all the time, even in their Co-ed 16 or 20 man teams.

Well, maybe its because we are still in our infant stages of growth of our cheer scene where our technique, strength, culture and confidence aren't as ready yet and thus we are ever so focused mostly on the technical stunting aspects of a routine. However it is good to see some improvements especially manifested so in the Wildcards routine of 2010 where there is an overall smoothness of flow in the routine and also 'creative' stunts in the sense where it is not commonly seen or used.

Hitting a traditionally "tougher" stunt just simply won't cut it if the visuals aren't there and it isn't new or WOW enough to grab the attention of the audience or the judges leaving a "hey! whats that gonna be??" in their mind.

Afterall to the informed audience or judge, how many gladiators, swedish falls or 2-2-1 fulls do you think they have seen and with much more energy?

Infinity Cheerleading Skills Clinic in Singapore!

This was a two-day American cheerleading skills clinic workshop by Jared Rohlfs of Infinity Cheerleading! This workshop really give us a good experience and it really increase our cheer skills, and i hope with all the skills that we have learn in the worshop, it will help to bring us to the next level!

Day 1 (FRIDAY December 10th, 7pm to 10pm)

Day 2 (SUNDAY December 12th, 2pm to 5pm)

We really appreciate Jared for guiding and teaching us the skills and tips for both trainings and conditionings! It's really helpful and we should maintain the consistency of the training tips that he had taught us!!! We will be looking forward for the INFINITY WORKSHOP next year!!! We will also miss ya JARED!!!

December 4th 2010, Stadia, Just beside Serangoon Stadium.

Once there was a very loving couple, MELvin and AshLEY. Lets call them ..........MELLEY. They were oh so very happy and dry coming over for the party at Victor's house.

They ate, laughed, talk cocked and crapped along with the rest. All so happily!

Until..... HE came along.

He reached the party hungry for food, but after Sharon's taunting/face making and having his fill of the duck meat at the party. HE, the ferrari bulldozer, decided it was time for ppl to get WET.

And so the girls all huddled around the chairs in one corner in their supposed safe house. But after YQ was down, it was pretty safe to say NO ONE is safe. One by one we all went down. At least they were nice to me...

But now... theres still this MELLEY who were all dry and Melvin proved to be Damn Difficult to Dunk cos he just kept running and suddenly had all the ninja/parkour skillz we didnt see in him before.

Tactical movement by the officers in an attempt to surround him failed intially but together with ASHLEY as bait calling out to him. "Melvin!, Melvin!" He was lured out and they ran to each others embrace. But the combined might of the bases manage to finally separate the lovers as they held on to each others fingers before it finally slipped off in their final hours and both got WET!

No one else was spared except for Sohvil and soon after, " I have a wound, cannot get wet!" became the hottest excuse around. Bleah!

And Melvin decided to get even too!

After that it was near 12am and we were kind and considerate heartland cheerleaders, so we decided to celebrate the birthdays for our Nov and Dec babies before some of us had to leave.

All in all, it was a fun filled night courtesy of Victor and Claudia Phai the chairwoman! Up next............. Trainings and Christmas! :D

Why do we practice so hard night after night?

Running a rountine over and over till we throw up.
Putting a stunt up so many times your legs start
to feel like jelly and you don’t think you can do it one
more time.
Late nights, early mornings, weekend roadtrips, missing the
parties,
Broken bones, torn muscles and deep bruises.

We cheer through it. We smile through it.

Because we live off our adrenaline, because the competitions free our spirit, because the after parties are second to none, because each and every cheerleader is invincible after stepping onto the floor, because one good stunt can make you smile all night, landing those tucks, staying tight, pushing everything full out, and making facials while doing it. Running a 2.5 minute routine, pushing so hard, making it look easy, breathing hard, but loving every minute. Our music is a rhythm to live by, because its possible to dance hard enough to leave all your worries behind. Sweat is the perfume of our accomplishment.

Guys,

I just want to voice out my opinion. It is saddening to hear that everyone is not putting the team slightly above your own personal interest. On Hari Raya Haji when it is a public holiday, most of the team members, surprisingly are unable to make it for the extra training even though soh vil is finally able to train. Time is running out and especially with so many ppl having plans of exam break, overseas and etc, we cant afford to waste anymore time. I understand holidays are hard to come by and everyone would want to make use of this opportunity to go out. Me too. I am confined with my recruits for 2 weeks and i would like to use this holiday to spend time with sharon. However, think about it, it does not hurt to just put aside 3 hours in the evening so that the team can train and progress more. I truly believe we can find a common time that can fit into everyone's plan. It just seems like the team progress and current achievement is not of great concern to everyone. A team requires everyone heart and soul. i choose to post this on our blog because i would like everyone to know including external people, that our team is not progressing as expected. So if all of us don't wake up our idea, come together and unite as one, we will be going nowhere, with no fruitful achievements.

WooohooO! its time for our Denvers Chalet for 2010! We shall head down straight after the usual Saturday training for those who are meeting us straight there, the details are above. Just head over to Costa Sands Pasir Ris Unit B02 and plop yourselves in the middle of the action inside.

There would be friendly drinks, games with drinks, drinks with games too.

National Day Dinner @ Buangkok Performance!

Hey all,

The blog has been stagnant ~~and almost defunct~~. However, since we recently had a performance at Buangkok, why not update? :D

Backstage before actual performance, this is our proud team of 10, with one of Denvers' new top flyers, Claudia Barbarella Phai. Despite being relatively new, she did Denvers exceptionally proud- she hit all her pyramids and recovers fast- in front of a crowd of 5000 (or so says the emcee)! Did I mention that there were ministers in the crowd as well?

I'm sure everyone would like to see more new faces for our performances and I hope Claudia's performance would inspire everyone to release greater potential.

I'm sure there will a video uploaded soon. (is it out yet?)

Evaluation's take-home points

HI DENVERS,

The evaluation has finally been held today, and I felt slightly consoled that at least you guys did put in effort to prepare for it. However, just a gentle reminder on what we've mentioned, that improving of skills and training of stunts shouldn't be done only when an evaluation is called for. In fact, even without this evaluation, all the stunts done today should have been completed quite some time ago. These stunts should by right be on the least prioritised items on our list of stunts in lined for the team already.

Also, do remember to speak up and let the coaches/captains/seniors know whenever you want to learn/improve certain stunts, or ask for advices whenever you feel unsure about how to go about executing them. Asking/speaking up won't kill you, but not doing anything about it will make you stagnant. I'm sure everyone is tired and sick of trying out the same stunts for the Nth time ever since Nationals ended this year (or for some, ever since you joined Denvers :p).

Last but not least, some of you may not have found the feedback useful. But it's fine because they're just the honest opinions that we have been wanting to tell you all along, and this "evaluation" was merely an opportunity to let us really talk to you about them - we don't want to give silent treatment to this non/slow-progressing situation anymore. However, i sincerely hope that everyone got to take away some valuable pointers from this evaluation. Most importantly, don't wake up and forget everything you have learned today - I don't really wish to see everyone going back to square one after all the things we've said today!

It's time to transform all the words into real action :)

hi all! i'm in the midst of cleaning out my apartment right now and am currently feeling quite emo because it's my 2nd last day in oslo and it rained so i spent the whole day finishing up the food at home and watching south park/the office. my elephant nose is back and this erratic weather is taking a toll on me. how's the singapore weather lately? anyway, i am going on self-exile for the next 21 days and would be uncontactable ha ha. kidding. i'm actually going on my last trip and by the time i get my hands on my laptop, i would already be standing on singapore soil! i will be getting some souvenirs for you guys, so if there's anything you guys want, please text me at my sg line. if not, i'll just get food (as usual).

okay so in my last few days of being a norwegian, i've been getting in touch with nature...

you see those 4 guys in the boat? one of them's crazy. he was drinking vodka with milk. (?!?!?!?) and he asked us to marry him. old, hum sup norwegian

and of course watching my nhl playoffs. it was stanley cup finals the other day and i actually stayed up till 5am to watch it. but damn awesome and exciting!!! in the last 1 minute the goalie of one team fouled and there was an empty net omg. here are some snapshots of the match.

i have been watching cheer too!! our nationals routines for the past few years, skm and whats not. they never fail to give me goosebumps:) :) and the links that you all post on facebook as well. can't wait to wear my cheer shoes again. i hope they are not rotten by now.

anyway time really flies. it's been 6 months? and i feel quite sad to be leaving this place because i've already gotten so used to being away and all. this is a picture of my pillow and i but now i'm sleeping on a plain white pillow cos i have already kept my linen and pillow case in my luggage.

i guess i have said enough. you know i love denvers and that's most important right! stay politics free ah. till then, i'll be seeing you all!!!!! can someone tell me what time will training start on sat 3rd july? i'll be there. can we have team dinner please? i miss eating kfc, rojak, cheesefries and chicken rice on the mats.

oh and does anybody here happen to want an ipad or know people who want an ipad? i'm selling mine. it's brand new, 32gb. my mom got it from the states and i really have no use for it so selling it. let me know kk. thanks!

First milestone Evaluation!!

Sounds exciting?? yea! Do not be afraid of this and lose confidence looking at the aims, look at it as a driving force to spur you on to chiong and to bridge the gap btw you and the goals set.
We shall have a KICKASS and unique skills video when we all get it, i can promise that :)

A message from our Vice Captain!

Remember the progressive goals that were set for us since April? I believe I've already mentioned it via email and verbally more than once, so you guys should be more or less be clear as to what you were have supposed to have achieved by now.

As such, the coaches have decided to hold an evaluation day for Denvers on this coming saturday, 12th june. [Attendance for this day will be compulsory, so please reflect if you are unable to attend. Only valid reasons will be entertained.]

Here is the brief breakdown of the skills to be assessed on that day :

Flyers :
- Elevator Pop Twist
- Heel Stretch Pop Twist

Bases :
- Toss to Hands + Extension + Liberty

Pyramids :
- Pitch up to 1-1-1 (All 3 layers, Bases, Mid-tiers and Top Flyers will all be assessed)

In light of the fact that some of you guys may need a longer time to attempt and perfect each particular area, we have decided to convert next week's weekday trainings into OTOT training sessions.

Please take note that neither the coaches nor the captain/vice captain will be in charge of your groupings/ stunt pairings. You will be given the liberty of selecting your own groups, so make sure that whoever you have in mind will be down for training that day. Bases/Flyers can be re-used for different grouping permutations, so its up to you guys to arrange as accordingly.

Bonus : The 5 coaches will be available for "rental" as well. (subject to their availabilty for trainings)

For those who've been to training often enough, you'll know that the coaches have lowered the skill level for evaluation considerably. As such, i would expect most or all of you to be able to hit these stunts with ease (:

For those who're still unsure of your abilities, its time to double up on your efforts and catch up with the ones ahead of you yeah? Show us how much effort you're willing to put in to improve yourself!

hi denvers! i wonder if anyone still reads this blog but hiiiiiii from oslo! it's already 3rd june (sg time) and it's my 6th last day in norway! anyway, since i finally managed to log in and this is my debut post, i shall write a bit about the past 6 months :) so, i am officially done with school. i took my first (& last) paper on 31st and because my school is just a small city campus (looks like smu), our exam venue was not on campus. and guess what, i took my paper in an ice hockey rink! I KNOW RIGHT...how cool is that. ice hockey:D :D :D

so anyway, my typical day in oslo goes like this. if i have no class, i will wake up when i cannot sleep anymore then go bathe and wash up. for some reason, i think the water that is dispensed here is full of minerals or whatever. so much that my hair quality SUCKS! urgh anyway, after i bathe and wash up, i will boil the water. my breakfast is very standard. most of the time we eat bread, sometimes this wholemeal bread called kniepp and sometimes i will buy my favourite norwegian raisin buns (roisin bolle). once in a while i will wash the clothes and clean the apartment with antibacterial wipes but i seriously miss my maid lol. and since the washing machine and dryer is not in my block, i cannot just walk out of the house in tshirt and shorts because it's so crazy ass cold, i just hand wash my clothes like this...

we don't eat out here cos it's seriously expensive. so we will go grocery shopping and i will cook! my roomie says i am quite a picky eater so she lets me decide what i want to eat and i'll do the cooking. sometimes we'll have pasta, soup, fish (cos it's the cheapest meat here), salad, vegetables and sometimes we just eat junk food for dinner O.0 but most of the time i will cook my specialty ha ha ha actually i just chop carrots, onions, sausages, cabbage, mushrooms and just anyhow fry with eggs. anyway i am such a good cook now, let me show you some pictures.

anyway, winter here was pretty insane. the coldest we experienced was around -25 degrees and i had to wear 2 layers of socks, 2 pairs of gloves and around 4 layers beneath my outer coat. the days were short in winter, it'd only get bright around 10am and it gets dark by 3pm. so i basically hibernated everyday. when i got back to oslo beginning of april, the snow was all gone! and now that we're halfway through spring, the temperature can go up to around 22degrees on a nice, sunny day. the days are long too. it'd get dark only around 11+pm and by 4am, it'd be bright already. but you know me, i can sleep anywhere & everywhere, so i can still get my sleep. anyway, here are some pictures of norway in the winter and spring...

oh oh one big highlight: i watched an ice hockey match!!!! it's officially my favourite sport. ice hockey is the bomb.......... :D the players are really damn rough, they just knock other players and omg it's awesome. i love ice hockey (and ice hockey players). anyway, it so happened that the match we caught was their equivalent of EPL and during first break, this guy who works for the hockey team proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the rink!!! OMG we were all like, and we thought we'd only see such things on tv...

norwegians are actually very into winter sports such as skiing, curling, ice-skating and etc. i didn't try any, except kick sledging. you know i'm the biggest scaredy cat on earth so when my friends finally convinced me to go down the slope, i screamed all the way... and i crashed into a damn big pile of snow that's taller than me, making a xinyi shape in the snow.

anyway, my life has been quite simple. i spend my day trying to look for new things to watch online. i've been watching south park and the office. they are hilarious it's like O M G L O L kinda funny. and once in a while i watch the nhl (national hockey league) playoffs. i guess another highlight was my birthday. my roomie got the 2 other smu girls to come surprise me with a cake and 4 of us squeezed on the bed to countdown to my birthday. it was simple and sweet! we went out for dinner by the river :) oh and of course thank you denvers for all the well wishes on facebook :)

very unglam cos we were all in our pjs and ready to sleep.

anyway as you can see from the picture, our beds are next to each other. we don't have individual rooms, it's like a studio apartment. so, my roomie and i see each other 24/7. it's like we're married. when i wake up, she's right beside me. when i go to bed, she's right beside me. when i sit at my table, she's right behind me. i only don't see her when i'm in the toilet. but we're still damn close and can have htht every night. so yay :)

i met clar in amsterdam some time in april, i asked her to drop by denvers training once in a while and she said she will! i also met my sister last month and because of the volcanic ash, every part of the journey was treacherous! this one too dramatic, wait till i go back and tell you guys. but yeah, i guess i was quite lucky too cos i was there in portugal when benfica won the portuguese soccer champions league and spain when fc barcelona won la liga! i was exceptionally happy when barcelona won cos i used to be a fan!! & it was really chaotic, with roads closed and fireworks and all. quite scary though, when i went out to check out the celebrations after benfica won, it was majorly chaotic and i was just trying to take some photos and people kept jumping into my shots. this guy even dragged me by the neck, tried to do a little dance with me and i had to squirm my way out of his disgusting armpit. yes oh well, a trip full of drama. will tell you all when i get back :)

i managed to catch a bit of the barcelona match on tv and messi is god-like!

it's already one of our last days here so it's time for us to be packing and cleaning out our apartment. i'll be going on one last trip before heading back home. so, see you all at ppcc in exactly one month's time! i'll be standing on sg soil by 2nd july. love and miss you guys! i feel like training again except that i haven't been stretching at all... anyway, world cup is starting. can we organize outings to watch the matches????? i don't know if my mum subscribed to the football channel but if she did, my house will be open anytime! HELLO! HELLO!
This is Ashley here. Bringing u the updates of Denvers recent outing (;
YES! It was just yesterday :D
We rocked, we bombed, we exploded Marina Barrage!
Denvers was situated at the extreme corner of Marina Barrage, under the beautiful but hot sun.

Firstly, thanks to Harlis' mom, Siti's mom and Yan for cooking up yummy food for us!
Can you spot who cooked what the the photo below? :D

Of course we have to thank others who bought yummy food, like Zhao Xuan's Chee Kway, Iida' cakes, Jonah's donuts, Lex's potato chips, and Mathew/ Raj and my drinks! Really sorry if i missed out anyone's food cos I am not aware! BUT THANKS TO ALL WHO BROUGHT FOOD! It was all so YUMMY! Mmmmmm...

After filling our cute little tummy, we started to stunt and we impressed some people :D Here are some shots!

Good job everyone [: We will have more of this to come. Maybe next time you guys can come to my condo, we will stunt in the pool :D Heeheehee..

Cheerleader of the Week #3 (17 Apr to 23 Apr)

This week's shining star goes to our Acting Vice Cap: Meeeeeel Soh! :)

This photo is totally not glamorous at all, but mel soh's performance for the past week (and in fact for the past few weeks as vice cap) have definitely been more than oustanding.

We would like to commend him on the stellar leadership these few weeks when the coaches have been trying out the new training regime, from being supportive to being alert to the coaches' demands, from pushing himself to train up the required stunts to pushing the rest of the teams to progress, we thought that this little kid has been doing more than what we had expected him to (nevertheless please continue to keep to your promise and whack a cupie up by apr OKAY).

As jimmy and i have mentioned during the most recent Sat's training, we hope that the rest of denvers can help out their acting vice cap in letting denvers grow. Do your part in remembering the things that have been thought and lessen the burden on mel's shoulders. I believe he doesn't feel good either having to nag at everyone after every training to put in effort in making trainings more efficient.

Last but not least, keep up the good work mels :)

Our beloved Siti! :)

It has been a tough week for all cheerleaders who came down for our trainings, enduring the coaches' tough conditioning and new basics training regime. However, we noticed not only that everyone pushed themselves harder, but some actually managed to make a breakthrough! :)

This is especially so for our flyer Siti, whom we thought have always been crumbling down from stunts and not able to overcome her phobia and fear. To our amazement, she did great for our new basics training, showing that she can execute her stunts as long as she is determined to do so. We love her cheer face as well! :D

So keep it up, Siti and the rest of the cheerleaders! Fight on! :)

Cheerleader of the week #1

For the benefit of those who were not there for the most recent Saturday training, we're starting something new and exciting to kickstart the new training year!

Starting from 3rd Apr 2010, the coaches will be choosing a "Cheerleader of the Week" for every week starting from a Saturday to the nearest Friday. After which a "Cheerleader of the Month", chosen from the 4 nominees after 4 consecutive training weeks, will be announced.

A mystery gift, sponsored by the coaches, will be awarded to the upcoming shining star every month!

Criteria to become a nominee will include the attitude to learn, ability to improve as well as the existent of positive energy portrayed during trainings. Of course, it proves that you are something when you're awarded the "Cheerleader of the Month". We hope that this can serve to be a motivation for each and everyone of you to work hard, strive towards your goals and never give up!

Up next, we announced that the first "Cheerleader of the Week" (3rd Apr to 9 Apr) goes to......

CONGRATULATIONS MATHEW!

We hope that everyone can learn from the amount of energy he exudes even though it's only arm motions!

Last but not least, let's not forget that the whole team HAS TO improve together as a whole. There's no U and I in a team :)

i don't know why im doing this but i just had the urge to blog something!call it the uncontrollable freako syndrome.

First of all, just wanna welcome the new members that have chose to join our family.I'm sure it will be wonderful journey ahead with so many plans coming our way. Don't be afraid and face all challenges to your best abilities. It's really a great start for all of you today and the spirits were high. Let's not just keep it just there and work together to bring it even higher as a TEAM. Training today was totally different and i seriously felt like im really training despite revisiting the basics! it really felt great cause we're doing it together as a TEAM! This brings me to the point that your journey is always more important than your destination. Whatever you pick up along the way,keep it with you and strive to learn more from this journey. Its the experiences that you'll always remember and cherish rather than what you eventually did.

Tough training it might be for some today and some might find it a piece of cake. No matter what, we must remind ourselves that we're a team and constantly help one another. If you're not going to help your team mates,no one else would do it. For the weaker ones, you just keep your positive attitude and work harder to catch up while the stronger ones could help by offering encouragements,helping to keep them in check and stuff. Contribute your strength and help one another improve and you will find that your journey will be more rewarding!!!Key point is that the strength of the TEAM is always the strength of the weakest link. In order to GROW as a team, REMEMBER TO CHEER and help your weakest link.And for the weakest link, learn to grow stronger and be a strong weak link!!!

oh well,for the next few weeks you guys might notice that some of us will be disappearing from training due to exams. So for whoever that's still training, work hard to achieve the goals set out for you guys and never give up.We'll be back soon to join you guys again.Please do your very best to ensure that you guys hit the target set for you guys so that those coming back from exams will be the weakest link!!!JIAYOU

Work very very hard people.Don't slack off and don't be shy to try. Remember that your destiny is directly proportional to the square of your extras that you put in. Put in more extra effort and you'll eventually reap what you sow!Always tell yourself that I CAN!!!i hope that by the time i'm back after exams, all of you have UP your level and then i can help to make nice nice posters for you guys!and i'll popby once in awhile if i can find some time out of my STUDY schedule to come down for some conditioning!

OH YAH...for those that's wondering how come some of you got the Motivational Poster style pictures. Please work hard to achieve something for me to document down!and cos time is short and i dun have so much time to search for pictures and do it nicely, it doesn't mean that you cannot do that particular stunt. Just give me and wenjie some time and we'll be sure to bring you lots more. for whatever we have for now,it just a trial run thingy! and ya so pls put it your 101 % effort in making the dance steps part of your muscle memory. Hakim and BB have put it alot of effort to make the dance a perfect one! It is very nice. Now it is up to us to bring out the "urm" effect!

due to the number of injuries, this coming tuesday and wed (9th & 10th) CHEEROBICS Trgwill be cancelled for those injured to recuperate so that we can come back stronger!!

But take note wed trg(10th) will be converted to NON Cheerobics Trg! So guys pls let me know if you all can make it! Thank you.

Pls see below for Feb Cheerobics trg schedule and importantly, revert back to me if you can make it for the Cheer camp on 27th & 28th Feb! Those highlighted in yellow are the training dates :)

P.S. For all the cheerobics trg, Normal days will start from 8 to 10pm. Sat will start from 1pm to 7pm. Sun timing TBC.

take a look at the recent NTU HO Cheerleading competition. 1st place is Hall 7, 1st runner is Hall 10 and 2nd runner up is Hall 3.

And Congrats to Sharon's hall (Hall 16) for attaining 4th in place and they are only 0.003 marks away from the 3rd position!!!!! So close.. hahah..

But just take a look at how much Cheerleading in NTU has progressed :)

Hey guys, I have the two newest designs and its waaaaaaaaay better than the few you've seen previously. I didn't like them either honestly. But these i guarantee they will be a lot more CHEER, its inspired by the latest all star uniform style! I will post the uniform blog for everyone to vote as well as JACKETS!!! up by 18th dec 09 CONFIRM (cos i'm back only on 16th dec and i will be travelling around and am afraid i won't be able to line out the stuff in the car O_o; I will do my best to do it by 11th dec tho) latest otherwise i will buy everyone dinner okay! :) (unless teck pig needs it earlier)

At the moment, our office's intranet system is down. While Harlis have other things to do that does not require the facility of technology, I for one am mindlessly surfing the net, in this practically worn out state.

Why so worn out, you ask? Other than the fact I slept late-lol- the juniors and some of the seniors were coached by our very totally freakin' awesome gymnast, Azri, yesterday. Yes, Azri came down to assist all of us! It was a very fruitful for all of us. Got me to try front walk over, and recapped on backhandspring. i love gymnastics! (:

I feel very motivated to try more gymnastics as the theory of it is simply stretch and never give up.

Never give up guys! When you fall, it's okay,just make sure you get back on your feet. Cause what is the point if you fall and just breakdown?
